Mitra is a practicing herpetologist, a
wellknown wildlifer and wildlife consultent. He is also an expert
in captive breeding of all types of
live stock specially, foreign
birds. From
December 1969 to 2003,
Mr. Dipak Mitra
has supplied all the necessary Venoms with which
all the AntiVenom Serum was made in Eastern India by different
Government Companies. It has saved millions
of people's life. He
has captured few wild & killer elephants, handled and kept lots of elephants.
As he is dedicated to wildlife he has done a lot but could not earn money. Now
he is the only wildlifer who is a man of Minimum Money. | Calcutta
Snake Park is owned by Mr. Dipak Mitra. He is the first man
to have established a snake park in Eastern India. Being a very busy man Mr. Mitra
deals with the big zoological problems not only in West Bengal but all over India.
Wildlife conservation in India is a tough challenge especially with the major
crisis prevailing over its natural world. A man like Mr. Dipak Mitra has to
face day to day challenges for the sake of conservation.
However,
the vigorous efforts of Mr. Mitra have paid of to a large extent. Being
known by his own men Mr. Mitra is an established and efficient leader.
A humble and cordial human being by nature he is always ready to encourage young
minds devoted to conservation. Over the years, Mr. Mitra has performed
many impossible feats and has set many records. In
1997 Mr. Mitra has spent 23 days at a stretch
with 6403 scorpions to set a new record. Dipak
Mitra was the 1st man to stay for 48 hours with lots of Cobras in a room to make
India's 1st record to stay with snakes in the year 1968 in Calcutta. In
the year 1981, he spent 200 hours with 200 venomous snakes-Cobras, Russell's Vipers
and Banded Kraits in Soadpur Durga Puja Festival. Other
than this, Mr. Mitra is the first successful King Cobra breeder in India.
He is an expert animal handler. Whenever there is an animal problem Mitra is contacted
by the people. For the sake of conservation Mitra has caught many Elephants, Leopards,
Deer and Antelopes. Other than this he has single handedly caught more than
28700 snakes. Though unfortunately in course of his work he
has been bitten 22 times by venomous Indian snakes-18 times by Cobras, 2 times
by King Cobras, 1 time each by Russell's Viper and Common Krait.
Yet against all odds he has gone through this accidentally and lived to tell the
tale. More over he is still active more than before. He and his zoo are always
being covered by the media. It may be said whenever Indians think of the snake
they think of Dipak Mitra. Apart from these, Mr. Mitra has always been an
admirer of plant life and at present has built a new unit in the Sunderbans
where he educates people about the mangroves along with other aspects of the
eco-system. Every month we receive dozens of phone calls and emails for
rescuing snakes, birds and small animals. | PYTHON

Snake Park has over the years has played its
part in educating people and telling them the messages of conservation and nature
love. Till date it has been one of the most successful breeding facilities in
India. And of course a bright future awaits for the Snake
Park. And sky is the limit and it can be hoped that this
zoo will get better and better with every step in the future. |
